RE: Using retired teachers as mentors

I agree with the idea of a mentoring program.  It has been my experience that there are a number of qualified citizens who would assist their community through volunteerism.  Retired teachers are a prime example of people passionate about the success of our children.  It has also been my experience that assistance offered is not readily utilized.  In my opinion there is no such thing as too many hands on deck to ease the classroom size, financial and professional issues facing our schools.  We need to find a way to incorporate this resource.
