RE: Personnel Development
Granted Mr. Cheng, we do not want to shoo our best and brightest away from the classroom. I believe many schools now incorporate the exemplary teachers in curriculum instruction and mentoring, i.e. BTSA. But let us not assume the participation in curriculum development and mentoring is necessarily avoiding our best teachers from burning out. Adding responsibilities like curriculum development and mentoring is extremely time consuming, and may overload those gifted teachers we are trying to save. We must create the time (summer?) for these projects. Remember, you and Mr. Bogar are suggesting we keep the best teachers with the students, AND have them perform these extra duties. My 10-12 hours per day are devoted to my students and my lessons. The rest of my day goes to my son. We cannot tax teachers time and force decisions between career and family. Respectfully, Brian Miller |
