A "Junior 1st" is another name for retention--it's adding another year to a child's tenure in school, pushing the graduaton age to 19, heading them for an increased risk of dropping out. Besides, it's expensive--$5500 a year times the number of kids in the class. Also, it's not a great idea to have children in a class without strong peer role models. Some might even consider it tracking.
