Mr. Kawka is exactly correct. I spent a number of years as a mentor teacher assigned (and paid) to spend time with (coach, assist, counsel, etc.) new science teachers. With this support, new teachers who had the talent functioned like 4th year teachers in their second year and like 10th year teachers in their third year. Unfortunately, for those new teachers who did not have the talent, nothing I did ever turned them into good teachers.
