Before we add hours and days to the school year we need to first address the incredible amount of wasted time. My children watch more movies in school than they do at home. I have addressed this issue to the state representatives without a satisfactory reply. I believe that if we lengthen anytime in school we need to do it in such a way that the basics are taught say in the AM hours and extracurricular additions are taught in the afternoon and are voluntary. I feel that my children are better served at home involved in music lessons, technology lessons, chores, gardening, etc. Rather than in a classroom watching another Disney movie. If the time were to be used wisely I'm all for it, but so much more learning could be going on right now in the time alloted, but isn't. Don't let school become day care. Thank You.
