Introduction

Greetings,

  My name is William Laine and I am currently a 6th grade teacher at a small charter school, named Manzanita Middle, in the city of Richmond, CA.  My interest in participating in this forum stem from my personal experience currently and throughout my entire education.  I have been educated Kindergarten through a Bachelors degree in the CA. public system. 
I worked in the Deans office of Education at Cal State Dominguez Hills (my alma matter!), where I also served as the Vice President of Academic Affairs for the Associated Students Inc. on campus.  As VP I participated extensively with the Cal State Student Association and spent a great deal of time lobbying for the Cal State System in Sacramento.  
I began my career as a teacher of the arts in Arizona through the Teach for America Program.  My experience working in educationally underserved communities really galvanized my dedication to the classroom.  
As you can see education is my life. I am eager to help shape the future of education in the state that provided me with such amazing educational opportunities.  I am also fiercely dedicated to ensuring that every person in this state has those same opportunities.
