  • Topic: Background

Accountability should be required for each area of education, not just the classroom. Classroom teachers have little say in the running of our schools. I have taught in California public schools for 37 years and I have dozens of former students who are now teachers in math and science. They contact me to see if what is happening to them as teachers is normal. By far, the most common pressure put on these new teachers by administration is to "dumb down their classes" and " grade easier". Several have already left the profession for this reason.
