1. Pressing needs: The answer to this is very simple - money and training. Money is needed to upgrade current equipment and network installation. Training is a must. The majority of teachers in the classroom today attended undergraduate school before the introduction of technology. PA training facilities for educators have been closed down. There is a need to reopen those facilities in ALL parts of the state. 2.Needs of schools and libraries: I think the needs are similar. Equipment is needed (although is seems that libraries in the Phila. area are acquiring equipment.) There is also a need for trained personnel to operate the equipment. As the Technology Teacher Leader of my school, I am expected to teach my classes, run the computer lab, and keep up the maintenace of all classroom computers in our main building and 2 annexes. This does not include whatever additional maintenance will be required should we ever become networked beyond the computer lab. 3. Rural schools and libraries: Unfortunately, I am not familiar with any rural areas, however, I feel that their needs would be similar to those in the city.
