Barry Chad
Librarian at Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh
Project: "Bridging the Urban Landscape"
500+ historic images of Pittsburgh online,
               accompanied by text.
Oct 1994 - through the present
Approx. 2800 hours logged in project to date.
Collaboration: with Common Knowledge: Pittsburgh (CK:P)
               http://www.info-ren.org/projects/ckp/home.html
networking arm of the Pittsburgh Public Schools
Collaboration meant freedom to design the site.
Collaboration meant technical support through the CK:P and
               Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center staff.
Collaboration meant learning from the WWW itself, from people
who walked in through the office door, from fellow staff at
the Library at a time when, for the institution, the Web was
               untrodden ground.
Collaboration meant involvement with the folks at Hill House
               http://hillhouse.ckp.edu/hhcan/home.html
the other component of the TIAA-funded grant.
Collaboration meant an attempt to involve the community through
               volunteers.
Collaboration meant for me the appearance of a new horizon of
               information presentation, learning and friendships.
