Maureen West
The Arizona Republic

Maureen West writes about aging and retirement issues as a senior reporter for The Arizona Republic in Phoenix. She spent the 1996-97 academic year studying those issues at Stanford University as a Knight Journalism Fellow. This spring she was recipient of the American Society of Aging's Media Award for local and regional reporting for her wide-ranging, year-long coverage of aging and demographic issues, including a series of articles in 1998 on the future of Social Security, a special report on Japan's "baby bust," and a series on end-of-life care.
