Mr. Banks-Brooks serves as Managing Director of Tax Management,
Inc., a New York based company devoted to assisting the economically
disadvantaged find work and build careers in the private sector.
Previously, he served as an assistant professor of business law at
the State University of Central Oklahoma located just outside of
Oklahoma City. Mr. Banks-Brooks has a long and distinguished
background in law, commerce and finance. Upon graduation from law
school, he was employed as an associate staffer to the House of
Representatives Subcommittee on Appropriations for Labor, Health
& Human Services and Education. He then handled commerce,
international trade and tax legislative matters for Senator Richard
Lugar of Indiana before leaving for a post at the Securities &
Exchange Commission.
John moved to New York in 1987 to work for a financial services complex but has since held legal, policy and/or administrative positions in city government, a professional membership association, and the Concord Coalition. At present, he volunteers his time as a communications consultant to Economic Security 2000. ES2000 is a national nonpartisan grassroots organization dedicated to Social Security's preservation through its reform. A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Notre Dame University, he holds an advanced degree from the University of Chicago Divinity School. He received his law degree from the University of Michigan in 1979. |
