Raising the retirement age to solve SS problems represents an increase in taxes for all workers affected, and a furthur reduction in the return for their contributions.
Furthermore, continuing to patch the one-size fits all unfunded system is in the end going to revert back to the current situation. Demographics will continue to deteriorate, return on contributions will continue to errode, and government control over the freedom and security of workers during retirement will continue unchanged.
All of your sugestions for flexibility for workers, be it retire early or retire later are considered and solved by privatization for the benefit of workers and their families. So, why continue with a patched zero-sum game unfunded system when we can move to a fully funded progressive system that will benefit all workers, the economy, and future taxpayers?
