Actually I favor total elimination now. A safety net based on the means tested welfare program we have today. However, the reality as so many have pointed out is it would never fly. I put foreward one of the most ambitious plans and it most likely will not recieve support untill about 2015 when there is a collapse of Social Security. The plan I sent to Congress in 1984 was along these lines, but the cut was not as large because we had not created so much in unfunded liabilities then. However, some 15 years later we have six times the unfunded liability which will double by 2015 with ease.
The question is not if social security will be eliminated, but when!
