Investing in the Private Market - The Right Thing to Do

I'm back. Just been lurking these boards for the last week or so and see that some additional bright minds have come aboard - especially "ridgeway". There's not much more I can add to his comments - I totally agree with his comments and questions to the panelists. Ridgeway, keep up the great job - I'll add when necessary.

I just thought it appropriate to throw out a few well spoken quotes on the subject of society - especially how meddling by politicians and bureaucrats can mess up anything.

As anyone that has followed these forums since they started, they know I believe I have the right to invest MY money towards my own retirement; I want the government out of my PRIVATE and BUSINESS lives; and the more they meddle, the worse it gets. It is time to STOP.

"No matter how disastrously some policy has turned out, anyone who criticizes it can expect to hear: 'But what would you replace it with?' When you put out a fire, what do you replace it with?"
- Thomas Sowell

"Democracy extends the sphere of individual freedom, socialism restricts it. Democracy attaches all possible value to each man; socialism makes each man a mere agent, a mere number. Democracy and socialism have nothing in common but one word: equality. But notice the difference: while democracy seeks equality in liberty, socialism seeks equality in restraint and servitude."
- Alexis de Tocqueville

"The assumption that spending more of the taxpayer's money will make things better has survived all kinds of evidence that it has made things worse. The black family- which survived slavery, discrimination, poverty, wars and depressions- began to come apart as the federal government moved in with its well-financed programs to 'help'."
- Thomas Sowell

"Mystical references to 'society' and its programs to 'help' may warm the hearts of the gullible but what it really means is putting more power in the hands of bureaucrats."
- Thomas Sowell

"The common good comes before the private good."
- Nazi slogan

Politicians, right now, are writing a scary history. I hope they see the light.
