Hello. I am a long time activist who has worked as organizer of not for profits, inside and outside government at several levels,in academia and in retirement for environmentla education. Sorry was unable to join last week but reviewed most of the discussions. Strikes me that this conversation (with some exceptions) is like too many others, where in the know folks are talking mainly to each other about their own concerns. Since almost every community has a library, I had hoped this dialogue would focus more on how libraries could help inform/educate the public generally about environmental problems and issues. That is the question that most needs answers. In my experience, libraries can provide neutral ground for contentious discussion on local issues but are seldom used to promote more general understanding, even of local controversies. Is this a proper function for libraries? Lee Botts
