This would be an ideal topic for the American Library 
Association's Task Force on the Environment to consider.

There is another group that might have an active interest in
looking at this, the National Council for Science and the
Environment (formerly the National institute for the Environment).

One of there major initiatives calls for the creation of a
National Library for the Environment (NLE):

www.cnie.org.nle

NLE is a growing information resource and is another participant 
in the environmental information cornucopia.
