  • X-topic: Choice 2

I just returned from two days of lobbying in our state capitol for a non-profit group. Our dues pay for a legislative advocate who keeps us informed on the public issues we have prioritized. Our membership is state-wide, and without his constant presence and attention to legislative affairs in the capitol, we would not be able to lobby effectively as citizens need to do in a democratic government. Our organization is non-partisan; we do not support or oppose candidates, or contribute funds to public officials campaigns.

One of my priority issues is campaign finance reform. I do not see that it conflicts with my participation in the lobbying efforts in which I have just been involved. In fact, it complements it!
