I support full disclosure, requiriing information to be filed electronically in time for required public posting via newspapers several days prior to the election. It is not a panacea; I agree that there will be an increase in types like "Committee of Really Nice People." We will hope for a truly vigilant press and opposition groups to reveal the real bias of the group. Actually, those types of groups already exist; corporate funded "environmental groups", for example.

I favor public voluntary financing of campaigns; if a candidate accepts funds beyond a statutory limit (perhaps $500 from any one individual) or is independently wealthy and spends without limit, then her opponent would receive additional funds (not necessarily equal, but enough to prevent being totally drowned out). The voluntary qualification should pass First Amendment concerns. I can hear the howls of people saying "Not my tax money!" But these people overlook the fact that taxes are already rewarding special interests while problems that affect all of us continue to fester.
