While the initiative process is flawed, so are the alternatives. Unlike our ability to affect the established structures of political power, reforming the initiative is something citizens could do on their own, albeit admittedly difficult. I wonder if anyone participating in this discussion actually thinks it could lead to political reform of representative government and campaigns?

Karyn- If you don't think that you can get enough information about the limited subject matter covered in an initiative, how is it that you think it is possible to make an informed judgement between all the candidates who each have the power to legislate on the thousands of different subjects? Political candidates rarely ever say anything that embraces the complexity and understanding of issues. They sell soundbites and feelings.
