In reply to the message by Will Forthman: political equality may be a forgotten concept! Evidently it is no longer part of the teaching of American history, as the only concept most seem interested in is "freedom." By that, some seem to mean freedom of money to purchase speech; some seem to mean "I can do what I want and you should not limit me." What we must do is re-educate the public as to the purpose of political campaigns: to debate the issues which can logically be decided and acted on by government. Here we would find disagreement, of course, but we would know what we were debating! Our citizens are confused by all the money! As one young man said, debating that there should be no contribution limits: If a candidate can run lots of expensive ads that makes it look like a lot of people are for him(her). So, the more money you can get the better you look!
Good reasoning, right?
