Jim,

It doesn't seem to me that power and money are problems. To me it seems that the problem is abuse of power and money.

The people who offer power and money to legislators will naturally always exist. I don't believe that we can (or even should) attempt to restrict their freedom or liberty.

High quality people -- honest, caring, thoughtful, intelligent --will almost always throw a person out of their office if the person offers a bribe.

To me it is pitiful to watch the Senators debate that they "have to spend all of their time on the job grovelling for money so that they can further their career".

Most employees would never get away with such balderdash. We the citizens need to make it illegal for the Legislators to so abuse their office.
