I support reforms that seek to put limits on contributions and fund campaigns with tax dollars, but I tend to think that the system can truly only be fixed by addressing the high cost of television advertising. When it comes down to it, the biggest reason candidates are struggling to raise more and more money is that they are trying to pay for television advertising. The television networks and affiliates use public air waves. We should be able to regulate how they charge for campaign advertising, so that candidates don't need the special interests to get their message out.
