May I suggest that there really is no such thing as a "non-professional" politician? Whether for a few years or a few decades, people enter the political arena because they enjoy the political game and because they want to make something happen. I get rather tired of the rhetoric about so-called professional politicians. There are good and bad, effective and ineffective, elected officials throughout government whether they are new at it or experienced. Let's focus on how to get what's needed through the legislative/political process when needed and less on false either-or's.
