With collaborative efforts such as these, two of the biggest barriers seem to be time and expectations. Our stakeholders and co-regulators need a realistic timeline up front and this is something we have not been totally honest about, especially given all the experience we have.

Nine months? One year? Try two years or five years on some of the more complex issues and conversations.

This creates new problems with attrition as well as the ability and motivation for stakeholders and co-regulators to move in and out of the process.

It's not pleasant, but these issues need to be addressed upfront as well. Otherwise, we're burying our heads in the sand.
