Points expressed clearly!
Yes, the public is most often torn between the data and information masters, notably the special interest groups (industrial lobbyists) and the public interest groups (usually the nonprofit consumer-advocacy groups. However, this later category has been infiltrated by the anti-environmental groups, NGOs in legal terms, green/environmental friendly names, and highly financed.
There are precious few groups that can provide what is truly a neutral position on many environmental issues. The general citizen most likely is persuaded on who to believe less by science than by the glamore of the presentation.
