Dear Fred and others,

I do not feel it is really my place to put forth information about which I am not completely informed. However, I know from Pat Bonner's first-hand request of me to read a draft funding proposal that this situation MIGHT change.

And, if that proposal is not funded, or not fully funded, then I pray that Pat and her colleagues will not be discouraged, but will seek alternative / additional sources for the extensive involvement of libraries (particularly public libraries), across this nation -- and that in rural, urban and suburban areas; with involvement of local, state, regional and national professional organizations. The EPA is ***just at the beginning*** of exploring potentialities.

We all hear and complain about what is wrong with government; what is wrong with the EPA -- I say hey! Let us pause and reflect for a moment: Is your institution so willing to be as abused by the nearly 1,000 us as the EPA will be in these two weeks? So, let's just, for now at least, say: "Laudable effort! Keep it up!" and see what outcomes come to pass.

As ever, I'm in it for the information!
Rebekah Tanner
