Charlie: The HQ people who told you there was no EPA toll-free number probably meant there was no central number like several of the regions have -- to get answers on any EPA program in the southeast you need only call (800) 241-1754 in Region 4 and the knowledgeable, courteous, friendly customer service staff answering the phone will find the right person to answer your question and transfer you. Region 4 also has 800 numbers for the Superfund program. I know Region 3 also has one toll-free number and excellent customer service to help each caller. However, our Headquarters does not have one toll-free number to help people get the answers; but as Pat pointed out there are numerous topic-specific hotlines that can help you get the answers or contacts you need.
