  • X-topic: Introductions/Goals

Bill asked: " ...what sort of concerted effort the EPA made in contacting tribes to invite them to participate in this forum?

Using the list of all recognized tribes, we e-mailed any that had electronic addresses and mailed a hard copy of the invitation to the American Indian Environmental Office's list of tribes and to their list of tribal college contacts. In addition, we had help from our panelist Patricia Cochran (Alaska Native Science Commission) reaching out to native villages. I also sent a request to all EPA regional tribal coordinators asking them to invite the tribes in their regions to participate. Information Renaissance staff also helped to do outreach, and Laurie Maak may send a message describing her efforts.
