I think we need to provide different pathways for students in high school. The requirements for student carreers often require vastly different knowledge bases, and certianly Chemistry and Calculus are not prerequisites for a carreer in Floral Design. There are students with no desire to pursue advanced studies, and I do not believe everyone needs to have advanced education to have a happy, successful life. I would have had to drop out of school if I had to be competent at drawing. I can't help not having the talent or skills required to be an artist, but I do not pretend that with more practice I would be great. Options need to be made available for students who do not have what it takes (desire or innate ability) to be successful in the college classroom.
