Dr. Ratliff, I agree with your challenge on funding. Working in the area of special education for 30 years I can attest to the madates, both federal and state, that shcools are accountalbe for and the paucity of funding!

I too am a native Californian, and attended California public shcools all of my life including K-12, Bachelors, Teaching Credentials, and Masters. I attended a public university (The University of Texas) for my Doctorate.

I can rememer the children in my rural school who were in need of special assistance which was so lacking.

We can do a great job of leveling the playing field for ALL learners if we are provided the funding to do so. It is heartbreaking to see children struggle when they could achieve!
