I believe that the on line dialogue has been beneficial. However in response to Senator Alperts comments on Rec. 38 I wonder where the "data" is to support this recommendation. Who is to say that the community colleges are doing a better job than the K-12 adult education programs. In fact in Rec. 19 it calls for better leadership at the community colleges when it sites inability to get things done, low staff morale and such. I think we are remiss if we don't ask the people most effected by this recommendation, the students. When better than 2/3 of the non credit program is in the k-12 adult education programs and these students make the choice to go to these programs, does it make sense to shift responsibility to the community colleges? I hope that this issue is handled in a responsible manner by the committee and that actual, known data is gathered from both sides of this issue before a final recommendation comes forth.
