I agree with many of the comments that the UC A-G requirements are driving the high school curriculum despite the fact that a small portion of our student actually matriculate into a four-year university. Why is it that, when I was in high school 30 years ago, I was able to take four years of business education courses (including a year of work experience) as well as all of the required college prep courses? I matriculated directly into the UC system on a full scholarship and also had great secretarial skills that helped pay my way through college. Why can't my 15 year old daughter do the same??? She should have choices that will prepare her for both college and career, and not be forced to decide in 9th grade whether she will or will not go to a UC. Quit letting the UC system drive our K-12 education system! And one more comment: Why are there so few panelists from K-12 education and so many panelists from the colleges and universities???
