RE: Question 1: Attracting and Retaining Teachers

I agree with Nancy.  And, if I may respectfully bring up the crass subject of compensation:  Teachers are not paid close to what they deserve for the importance, stress level and intellectual requirements of their work.  Status is related to compensation in our society and teachers (like nurses) remain underpaid because this profession was traditionally women's work.  Raise salaries and many other professional problems will solve themselves.
