When the state and business try to dictate what individual teachers and schools should do, that is what drives quality teachers from the profession. The tighter the lines are drawn around what and how to teach, the harder it is for quality teachers to remain in the classroom. Teachers MUST have a say in their own professional development, and in their own classrooms.
