  • Topic: Emerging Modes

This is the problem as I see it with the Master Plan. It is
focused on "the institutional outcomes & needs and not the
learner. The outcomes which are then held accountable
and assessible then become the focus of what education is
instead of the human being we are teaching. As a teacher
for over 33 years, and a representative of teachers, I know
that dedicated teachers know what the outcomes (subject
matter, etc.) but focus on the student as a whole: how they
learn, the environment in which they learn within, the
resources that are needed to reach the learning goals, etc.
How the Master Plan addressess this so we can focus on a
student learner environment will direct whether we are
teaching young people or developing robotic automatons
who will 'know' subject matter but not know how to be
creative thinkers.
