Bob Harper has said it all. Adult Education programs are effective, flexible, cost effcient and accessable to all parts of the local community. We all agree that learning should be a life-long process and yet the Master Plan neglects the "fourth component" of the educational system, Adult Education. Not only do these programs provide for continued learning, but they allow for students who may have fallen by the way side to pick up the pieces and complete their high school diploma, GED or learn how to read. These programs also provide important supplemental instruction to the k-12 system students who may need remediation or additional help in meeting the increasingly rigorous requirements. Historically adult education programs have provided quality education with credentialed teaching staff, excellent materials, clean and safe classrooms and a positive learning environment. Adult education opens its doors to all adult members of the community and works collaboratively with many varied organizations and agencies make sure that there is an educational provider in their local area that can meet their local needs. We really need Adult Education as that "fourth" component in a seamless educational system.
