I am an Electrical Engineer for Intel Corp. with over 10 years of experience and would be quite willing to leave my private-sector job to teach high school math, physics, or computer programming. There are some of us who would like to make more of an impact in the world that just building faster computers, even if it means a significant cut in pay. What seems to be missing is a streamlined way for us to transition to education from industry. Most of us have taught quite a bit in our professional careers already, so I would suggest a fast-track to obtain a teaching certificate for those with industry experience.
