Here's a short negative note about technology in education. When 10 hours of instruction time is spent teaching students how to access a weather satellite and download weather data, those 10 hours are not available to teach the students what the weather data means and how to use it. If the course curriculum indicates the student will learn about weather, downloading satellite data does not meet that goal. The computer lab makes an excellent baby sitter but it doesn't teach English or science. For non-computer classes, the computer is a tool, not an end-goal.
