My research has focused on expectation for low achievers who are taught by master teacher who stated she had high expectations for her students; however, there was a drastic difference between the kind of experiences the lower track students received and the honors/AP students. She cared for her students and wanted them to be successful. They were successful on minial tasks that required little thought or effort.

Teachers can meet the needs of all students regardless of their academic level and/or language needs. The work done by Carol Tomlinson at UVA on differentiated curriculum provides a framework for addressing the wide range of abilities and interests in a classroom.
