RE: A different perspective
John Ford asked "What would you personally like to see happening differently in California Education?" As a substitute teacher in 10 different districts that range from rural to suburban. I would like to see more of a collaborative effort with administration, teachers and substitutes to better enable us to provide continuity in the classroom when the regular teacher must be absent. One way that I feel this could be accomplished is to include substitutes in professional development training sessions so that they clearly understand the curriculum also. In my county, if I want to take one of the classes offered I must pay quite a stiff fee to participate and I know that the regular teachers are not being charged for it. I have asked about this and have been told that the state pays for them but not for my costs. |
