re: question of the day-costs
I worked as staff to the Finance & Facilities working group over the past year, and we discussed the issue of cost estimates. We felt that the planning was not yet at a point where comprehensive cost estimates could be done, since much of the work over the past year to develop many of the recommendations in the plan was done concurrently - meaning that the cost implications of the recommendations could not be assessed until after the work of the groups and the Joint Committee was closer to completion. The draft Master Plan does include a recommendation that would charge a Quality Education Commission with doing exactly what Ken has suggested - develop a clear picture of the education system that we believe will provide the high quality education we want for each student, and accurately estimate the cost of resources needed to support that system. I would invite Ken to participate next Tuesday, June 11, for the discussion about Finance and Facilities. |
