- Topic: Background
I couldn't agree more. California cannot maintain its economic position by educating only the wealthy - or by importing brains from overseas. California must offer quality education to all and produce our own leaders and technical workers. Education is what produces social mobility. Giving second-rate course work to students is not a favor to anyone. Students who complete "dumbed-down" classes and attempt college work find themselves in a terrible position. Unfortunately, they usually blame themselves for their failure when they should be blaming their high school for not preparing them for college work. Forcing a teacher to teach a course for which they are unprepared is no favor to anyone either. That teacher is held accountable but not the person who put them there.
