Hello,

I am a special education teacher, K-6. I also have four daughters in the public school system, ranging from 7th grade next year, to the oldest who plans to go to graduate school. I am concerned about equitable funding of schools. I am especially concerned about the use/misuse of standardized testing as the tool for accountability. I am worried that our schools will be turned into factories, and our children into "good workers" for corporate America. I would hope that the Master Plan for California will focus on helping children to become the authors of their own lives, with the ability to read, write, inquire about what interests them. In general, I don't want to see our schools become the minor leagues for industry. I also would like to see developmentally appropriate practices at all grades.
