Welcome to the start of the Universal Service/Network Democracy
on-line seminar.  This message is being sent out to everyone who
has registered for the seminar.  I want to invite you to visit
the Universal Service/Network Democracy Web site,
	http://www.info-ren.org/projects/universal-service
and read the material placed there for the first week of the on-line
seminar.

Under the heading "This Week's Activities" you will find a list
of topics that will be covered during the first week, including two 
assignments that all participants are invited to complete this week.
The address for posting material to the on-line discussion is
	us-nd@info-ren.pitt.edu

Please note that there is a single address for posting material
to the on-line discussion, whether you have signed up to receive
material in individual e-mail messages, a digest of messages or
solely via the Web.
