Here in Pittsburgh, the school district is under severe fiscal pressures and unable to add new support staff for Internet activities. This is both a blessing and a curse. The blessing comes in the fact that teachers will have to take the lead and become learners again. The curse is that institutionally the changes or shifts wont get reflected in the bureaucracy making it harder to get long-term support. The question is how do we bridge between the learning and dynamics happening in the classrooms and the inability of the organization to pay attention? Both groups are needed. I suspect that this is the first time that the classroom is taking the lead, lets not make the same mistakes the institutions have made in the past. -Mario Zinga
