I'd like to follow up on Gwen's questions with a question for my own information... It would help me understand some of the context of the comments. What is the NIE definition of dissemination? Or better dissemination to what end? My dictionary definition is: 1. To scatter widely, as in sowing seed. 2. To spread abroad; promulgate: disseminate information. and I get the feeling that dissemination is simply spreading the word. I worked for over 15 years in Dept of Ed projects where dissemination was most often tied to "adoption" (getting others to adopt your project) and "adaption" (getting others to adopt recognizable parts or a varient of your project). We've got a ED project now where the dissemination objective is "good PR to help get continued support for the program". Thanks Ray Rose >Laurie asks a good question and I see that there are a few answers. I'd >like to consider this from another perspective (the practitioner rather >than the PI) and look at the goal of getting good practice, school reform, >etc. into the schools. > >So the questions I'd ask are: > >How do we disseminate the impact of what we've done (and learned) >effectively to teachers and communities? > >How do we get the teachers and communities who are involved in our projects >to share how it has made a difference for them (and their students, >schools, communities, et.al) so that others can learn from those who are >directly affecting students? > >Gwen >------------ > ================================================= Raymond M.
