Hi, My name is Dave Thomas. I am a professor of mathematics education at Montana State University and a PI on the Network Montana Project http://www.math.montana.edu/~dave/nmp/ In Montana, many school districts have already decided to acquire Internet services for faculty and students. Decisions to invest in technology are being made on the assumption that teachers and kids will quickly justify the expense through informed and creative use of WWW materials, distance learning opportunbities, and so on. If we have learned anything so far in Network Montana, it is that continuous support and training are essential. Without a significant investment in staff development, it seems unlikely that the promise of the new technologies will be realized. So, how do the rest of you think we can use our collective influence to make staff development ABOUT on-line content and computational resources a significant part of school district technology plans?
