Carnegie Centennial Gallery: Diplodocus carnegii

Dr. W. J. Holland assembles the first diplodocus skeleton, [1908]. Diploducus carnegii was "named by J. B. Hatcher in honor of Andrew Carnegie whose generosity made it possible to collect this and other related specimens in the collection." (Carnegie Magazine, February 1951.). Mr. Carnegie and "his" dinosaur became the subject of cartoon whimsy.
