Program for the Dedication of the Manchester Elementary School, Tuesday May 25, 1965, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Manchester Elementary School
The new Manchester School is the beauty spot of the neighborhood. In September 1964 it replaced the old school on Chateau Street. Parts of the old school were almost 100 years old, but its remarkable construction and beautiful stairways were outstanding. Many famous and fine people graduated from there. It was razed because of the Chateau redevelopment and highway program.
The new school, two stories high, is built to meet the children's needs. Its two stories surround two interior courts, a unique feature in modern school building. One court contains tanks, cages, and areas for fish, birds and pets. Both are landscaped with blooming shrubs and flowers.
There are specially equipped art, music, science, library and special education rooms.
The spacious well-lighted rooms are well equipped for academic work. There are three outdoor playyards.Did You Know That We Have?
