Congressman Jim Kolbe (R)
Arizona, Fifth Congressional District
Jim Kolbe is currently serving his eighth consecutive term in the
United States House of Representatives. He represents the people
of Arizona's Fifth Congressional District, which includes Tucson
and eastern Pima County as well as all of Cochise County and southern
Graham and Pinal counties. The Fifth District is home to some of
the most stunningly beautiful natural areas in the nation, including
Saguaro National Park, Chiricahua National Monument, Coronado
National Memorial, San Pedro National Conservation Area, and Coronado
National Forest. World-renowned tourist attractions -- Tombstone
and the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum -- also are located in the
Fifth District.

Assignments
- Subcommittee on Treasury, Postal Service, and General
Government: Chairman of this committee, which funds, among
other things, the Executive Office of the President; Office of
Management and Budget; Internal Revenue Service; Customs Service;
Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms; Secret Service; United
States Mint; and the Office of National Drug Control Policy.
- Subcommittee on Interior: Second ranking Member of this
subcommittee which provides funding for public lands in Arizona
through agencies such as the National Park Service, the Forest
Service, and the Bureau of Land Management. The subcommittee is
also charged with examining funding issues related to mining,
grazing, and logging, as well as the preservation and enhancement
of natural resources.
- Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice, State and Judiciary:
Second ranking Member of this subcommittee which funds agencies
that are particularly important to the Arizona-Mexico border region.
They include the U.S. Border Patrol, Immigration and Naturalization
Service, Drug Enforcement Administration, International Boundary
and Water Commission, and the U.S. Trade Representative.
